By Carol Holsopple-Froese, Chair, East Holbrook Mennonite Church

The sun was shining on this winter Saturday morning of January 21 at the East Holbrook Mennonite Church in Cheraw, Colorado, as a group gathered to celebrate in the ordination of Brian Hanneken.

It was a bluegrass celebration thanks to Dave Foncannon and his Fireweed band.  Brian has been with the East Holbrook congregation for a year but has been in the ministry of our Lord Jesus for over 30 years.  (Brian served the Walsenburg Mennonite Church in the beginning of his pastoring career.)

Linford and Mary Etta King provided the official ordination from Mountain States Mennonite Conference and peer pastors Dave Mourn (Rocky Ford Mennonite Church, Rocky Ford) and Dave Foncannon (Alive With Grace Fellowship, Pueblo) blessed the service with words of encouragement and challenges.

Brian and Twila were delighted to have several persons from their previous home congregation, Greensburg Mennonite, Greensburg, Kansas, join in the celebration. The East Holbrook Mennonite Church family has been blessed by Brian’s ministry over the past year and anticipates the relationship to grow spiritually deeper.

We celebrate and take delight in this long-awaited event. Blessings to Brian and the East Holbrook congregation!
