Building Project – Help Needed!

We need help for the final stretch with the new building project. Now that the painting is done, we would welcome volunteers with wood finishing and trim carpentry skills. If you have an interest in learning, there’s work and opportunities for you too! And as long as the weather holds, we’ll be working on finishing the retaining walls so that we can have drivable and walkable grades around the building once the snow really flies. Please give us a call at 719/687-9506 if you’re interested in helping for a day or for a week of good work, good food and good fellowship!

Quilters Retreats

Another great year for quilters retreats here at RMMC. With a total of 46 quilters over two weekend retreats, there was a lot of fabric, thread, and creative minds at work. Many of these ladies volunteered to make quilts for the beds in the new building. We had such a great response to make quilts, that we got more than we needed allowing the extra quilts to replace some comforters in Emmental as well. These works of art will be a beautiful addition to the rooms, making them very inviting for staff and guests to enjoy. Shown here is a quilt that a group of ladies from the same quilt guild worked on together to complete.

Mennonite Disaster Service Volunteer Opportunity
An opportunity to volunteer with Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp, Colorado Mennonite Disaster Service, and Bi-National Mennonite Disaster Service is coming up November 13 through November 21, weather permitting. The spruce beetle is continuing its attack on trees at RMMC. In its quest to head off the infestation, MDS has been involved in removing trees, chipping limbs, and debarking logs. This important work is ongoing, and we need your help.
•    Volunteers are invited to participate for any amount of time during the project– come for the whole week, or one day.  Whatever time you give is appreciated!
•    All skill levels are needed and valued!  There will be work for everyone.
•    Food and lodging will be provided by Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp.
•     Volunteers will be notified if the project is cancelled due to severe inclement weather during the project week.
Please notify Corbin Graber of your availability at corbin@rmmc.org or 719-687-9506. To learn more about helping with MDS and about the Spruce Beetle Infestation here at Rocky Mountain, please visit our web page (www.rmmc.org) and click on the “MDS Volunteer Opportunity” button.

You’ve Been Spotted!

We spotted Seth Miller (Colorado Springs, CO) wearing his RMMC shirt in Jackson Hole, WY. Seth, along with two friends, road bicycle across the country this past summer to raise money for MCC’s Global Family Program.

Also this summer, Cassie Voth (left) and Jenae Stutzman (right), both from the Denver, CO area, traveled to Ecuador with Youth Venture (part of Mennonite Mission Network) where there are pictured here standing on the equator. Thanks, Seth, Cassie, and Jenae, for taking RMMC on your summer expeditions across the country and around the world! Share your “spotted” photo with us. Email it to jenelle@rmmc.org
